About the Nuffield Centre

Sea Cliff TraversingThe Nuffield Centre is a purpose built tri-services recreation centre co-located with the Joint Services Mountain Training Centre (JSMTC) at Indefatigable at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwll- llantysiliogogogochuchaf on the banks of the Menai Straits on the island of Anglesey in North Wales.

The centre is open to all service personnel and their families to use as a holiday centre and for service personnel to use as a base for adventure training in Snowdonia, North Wales and the surrounding coastline.

The name of the village is the longest place name in Great Britain and means ‘St. Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool of Llantysilio of the red cave’ and is more commonly written as Llanfair PG, for obvious reasons.

The Nuffield Centre also has its own Sailing Centre on the Menai Straits and runs waterborne activities and RYA courses in both sail and power.

Family on a catSet in the grounds of Indefatigable, the centre has fabulous views of the Menai Straits in sight of the famous Menai bridges and a panoramic view of the Snowdonia Mountain range behind and is only away minutes from the Snowdonia National Park and yards from the Anglesey Coastal Path. Access to the Nuffield Centre could not be easier, with the A55 only a minute away, and Bangor railway station a short taxi ride. With a Sailing Centre and Climbing Wall on site, and with the attractions of Anglesey and Snowdonia within sight, the Centre is an excellent base for all the activities this area of outstanding natural beauty has to offer.
