RYA Powerboat Courses

Do you want to learn to Powerboat on a beautiful and unique stretch of water? The Menai Strait is well known for it’s tidal flows, narrow channels and stunning scenery which provides the perfect learning ground for powerboaters.

We offer RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 and Safety Boat courses throughout the year. Our courses require a minimum of 2 students for the RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 and a minimum of 3 students for the RYA Safety Boat courses in order for them to be run. Individuals are welcome to book, but may have to be flexible with dates, whilst the minimum student numbers are accrued.

RYA Powerboat Level 1 (Age 8+, accompanied by an adult) 

With no previous experience needed, the RYA Powerboat Level 1 One day course teaches a practical introduction to basic powerboat handling and safety. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat and environment in which the training took place. Under 16’s will be endorsed to use powered craft under the supervision of a qualified adult.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 (Age 8+, accompanied by an adult)

With no previous experience needed, the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Two day course teaches students boat handling, safety and seamanship knowledge. On completion of the course students should be confident power boaters in fair environmental conditions and aware of both their own limitations and the crafts. Under 16’s will be endorsed to use powered craft under the supervision of a qualified adult.

RYA Safety Boat (Age 16+, 16-17 to be accompanied by an adult)

To attend the course you are required to hold a RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate. The RYA Safety Boat Two day course teaches students techniques used in Powerboats for providing safety cover for a range of water craft and practical knowledge for assisting in rescues.
