Welcome to the Nuffield Sailing & Watersports Centre
The Nuffield Sailing & Watersports Centre at the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre Indefatigable provides sailing and watersports activities for serving military personnel, their families and visiting military units.
Our very own RYA accredited Sail Centre is situated on the banks of the Menai Strait, just a short walk from the accommodation wing. We offer courses and taster sessions in sailing and powerboating for adults as well as children. We also offer taster sessions in Stand-Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking (Sit-on tops) – great fun for families and popular with military units for team building and decompression.
A programme of prearranged courses and taster sessions will be listed below and is updated throughout the year. You should also keep an eye on our Facebook page for announcements and availability. Alternatively, in addition to our advertised courses, we can arrange directly with you a course or taster session on dates to suit you (subject to availability of instructors and minimum number of students required).
Our fully qualified and experienced instructors can deliver courses and taster sessions to both groups and families.

FAMILY & GROUP SAILING COURSES
What better way to take advantage of our superb facility, learning to sail or improve your skills on one of our dedicated sailing courses suitable for families and small groups of up to 6 persons (children must be aged 7 and over).
We provide 2, 3 and 5 day sailing courses. Courses can be arranged direct with the Nuffield Centre Office. Pleaase contact us for more details.
POWERBOAT COURSES
We run Powerboat Level 2 courses throughout the year. Safety Boat Courses are ran subject to demand. If our scheduled course dates are not suitable – please contact us and we can arrange a course on dates to suit you. Courses will only run if there are 3 people booked. Sailing and Watersports Sessions
An opportunity to spend a few hours at our Sailing Centre. For beginners and the more experienced sailors, we can provide an opportunity to sail under supervised conditions. Equipment, boats, instruction, PPE & safety cover are included. Contact the office for further details.
And if sailing is not for you, we also offer Stand-up Paddle Boarding (SUP) and Kayaking (sit on top) sessions. All equipment, instruction and PPE are included.
Why not combine paddling and sailing for a fun filled day for your family or group for £200 for up to 6 people.
Additional Dates for Your Diary
Nuffield Sailing & Watersports Centre Open Day for 2024 will be announced once a date has been decided.
In the unlikely event that we do have to cancel your booking, we can assure you that we will give a complete refund or make every effort to provide suitable alternative dates.
Should the booking be affected due to adverse weather conditions, we will make every effort to make alternative arrangements with you whilst you are here. Please note this may be constrained by the availability of our instructors and your own plans.
Where you have cause to cancel your booking, the following cancellation policy will apply:
- Greater than 4 weeks’ notice – full refund
- 4 to 2 weeks’ notice attracts a 50% refund*
- Less than 2 weeks = no refund*
- You should have adequate travel insurance to cover any “last minute” cancellations
*Refunds for cancellations due to operational issues will only be given on receipt of a written report from the Unit Commanding Officer.
